2 Pianos 4 Hands Chester Theatre reviews
The starting piece, Brahms, was unique in all our 30 years of symphony attendance in various cities as the most listless we have ever heard. No energy. No nothing. Truly terrible. Interesting to us that the only acceptable part of the evening was not even featured in the evening's title. We left discretely in the first interval between movements -- luckily our seats are right beside an exit so we could exit quickly without disturbing others. Not sure why we keep trying again every few years. But then we picked them carefully -- we've been to these types of symphonies too often in the past. The only good in the entire evening was the second piece, by Bach, it was nuanced and quite good --well managed by the 2 Pianos 4 Hands and not surprising the solist was superb. Bach and Shostakovich? The only acceptable part of the evening was merely adequate.
